SIERRA LEONE NATIONAL MUSEUM (CULTURE & HERITAGE)

Predating independence, the Sierra Leone National Museum was established by the Sierra Leone Society in 1953. Their aim? To provide a window into the past for future generations, by preserving every ancient, historical, and natural monument and relic, as well as archaeological, ethnographical, or scientific objects that are of interest.

A highlight of the museum are the personal effects of Bai Bureh, hero of Sierra Leone. The only known photograph of this man, his clothes, sword, and drum are all on display

You’ll also find intricately designed full body masks of secret societies across Sierra Leone, traditional musical instruments, antique weapons, paintings, and more etc.
