TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY MONTH OF FEBRUARY

The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, and its subvented Agencies ,the National Tourist Board and the Monuments and Relics Commission, are thrilled to flag off the Travel and Hospitality month as part of the year long Tourism for all campaign, aimed at creating awareness for domestic tourism,in the country today,February 1st, and running through to the 29th. This initiative represents an unprecedented collaboration between key stakeholders within Sierra Leone’s vibrant travel and hospitality sector and aims to bolster appreciation, awareness, and participation in the nation’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.

The campaign, sub-themed “Travel & Hospitality,” is designed to encourage Sierra Leoneans to discover the wonders of their own backyard, fostering a sense of pride and ownership while contributing to the sustainable development of local communities. Throughout the month, residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to engage in a plethora of activities aimed at showcasing the country’s diverse attractions.

Key activities include special tour packages,guided cultural heritage tours, nature trail hikes, beach festivals, and culinary events that will highlight local cuisines. These events are carefully curated to ensure participants can revel in the full spectrum of experiences that Sierra Leone has to offer, from historical landmarks to picturesque landscapes.

The collaboration between the Ministry, the National Tourist Board, and the Monuments and Relics Commission underscores a unified commitment to elevating the profile of domestic tourism and its potential to drive socio-economic progress. The campaign also seeks to educate the public on the importance of preserving Sierra Leone’s cultural and natural heritage.

Stakeholders from the hospitality industry, including hotels, restaurants, and tour operators, have pledged their support for the campaign, offering special promotions and packages to make exploring Sierra Leone more accessible to all.

“We are excited to launch this landmark campaign to highlight the beauty and diversity of Sierra Leone,” said the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. “Domestic tourism is a vital component of our overall strategy to develop and sustain our tourism industry, and we are proud to be working with our partners to make it a success.”

The public is encouraged to participate in this month-long celebration, which also includes various tours to hotels ,restaurants, and related facilities aimed at showcasing the tourism potential of Sierra Leone.
